Ponder this....

Wow! Life is crazy!! t never seems to slow down! 
This coming weekend is Disciple Now at our church. Please pray that God will work in the lives of the each youth (and also pray for our house- Jacob will be hosting about 12 senior boys at our house :) ).  I am going to be a leader at a different house with 21 freshman girls. I am so excited to see what God has planned.  Saturday we will be going into downtown Houston to worship and have a service with the homeless. The Charlie Hall Band will be down there with us. We are so excited!!
   
On another note, I have really been struggling with worry.  It has seemed to creep into my life a lot lately.  Tonight I was talking with an awesome group of girls and this was brought up:
We all pray for God to give us things-- Patience, Strength, Love, Compassion, Not to Worry, etc.  Do we expect God to immediately answer our prayers (in our way)? I know I do...And then when things don't seem to be working out, on my turns, I feel like God isn't there.  However, a friend of mine brought up that God doesn't automatically give us patience, strength, love, compassion, or the power to not worry...but he does give up opportunities to practice the traits that we need His guidance for. I hope I am making sense.  Here is an example--- We pray for patience. God does not immediately make us a patient person. But He does give us the opportunity (a long line at Walmart, a child that doesn't understand something, or maybe even a red-light) to practice being patient.   


So I challenge you, if you are praying that God help you with a trait, to look for opportunities to practice...and know that God has given you that specific opportunity.  I know I am going to be looking for chances to not worry. 

Philippians 4: 8-9 say "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things, Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."
